To the south west of Killin lies Acharn Forest, mainly a mixed conifer plantation with areas of woodland and moorland throughout. National Cycle Route 7 runs through the forest along which the route follows, as well with numerous forest access tracks. Part of the track follows along the route of old Killin Branch Railway and offers distinct views of the area. The main loop of the Acharn forest is around four miles long with gentle climbs and moderate descents, suitable for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
