New Killin Music Festival for 2016?
Many years have passed since the final Killin Folk Festival. A fresh modern local group are now hoping to launch a rethought, rebranded Music Festival. At this early stage we are looking to gauge support and opinions. What would work, what you would like to see, if you would like to be involved etc.
World’s biggest rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ with Whisky Kiss
Whisky Kiss and About Scotland are teaming up to create the world’s biggest rendition of people singing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ to celebrate Hogmanay and Burns Night and they are asking for your help in this Guinness World Record attempt.
Killin Hogmanay will see a slightly adjusted evening compared to past Hogmanay events, with an aim to making the event sustainable. Lantern walk from Pavillion – 7.30pm, to lead to the Falls of Dochart. Music from Marit and Rona – 8.00pm, break at 9pm. The duo fell into playing together when they were studying in Newcastle.
Skerryvore in the McLaren Hall
On Friday 17th June, the award winning, trad-rock band Skerryvore will play the McLaren Hall – a first visit to the village for the band. Skerryvore were recently described in the Falkirk Herald as “Six of the best musical ambassadors Scotland could ever have wished for… a living, breathing, twelve legged party waiting to happen.
