    Hello,

I am looking for information regarding Alexander Campbell of Killin who married Mary Cameron of Lochiel about 1723. They had possibly 7 children and I can find the baptismal/christening record for Alexander Campbell dated 04Jan1731. Alexander was the second child, Achibald being the first in 1728. I have traced the family to PEI Canada and this Campbell line comes directly to me through the last child James born 1743. I am trying to find out more information about Alexander Campbell (father).

I have seen information saying his parents were Colline Campbell and Jean Campbell, however, this information states he was born in 1713 which wouldn’t make sense.

Other information suggest that he petitioned for the tack of the mill and farm at Finlarig as early as 1717; the tack was granted in 1722 and was a a tacksman of the Earl of Breadalbane.

Yet more information suggests that he was the son of John Campbell and Margaret Campbell and John was one of two sons of Duncan, Lord Ormelie who was passed over for the title in favour of his younger brother in the late 1600’s.

If anyone has any information regarding Alexander Campbell or his wife Mary Cameron, I would appreciate hearing from you.

    Hi Andrea,
Good luck with your search – you’ll need it finding your own Alexander Campbell!
This outfit, in particular Val Wilson, did a very good job finding my Alexander Campbell, for a modest 50 pounds or so, and very swiftly too.
    Her email is Val@britishancestors.com

Thanks Sandy. I did contact her however, they are unable to help because it is before 1855. I did order a CD from The Scottish Genealogy Society for pre-1855 records for Killin area, so maybe that might have some info although I have my doubts. I am guessing this is as far back as I will get with this family line, which is a little sad.

    Hello Andrea,

my name is Pat and I am related to James [1743] Campbell. Like you I have been searching for answers regarding the parents and ancestors of James for at least 15 years now– We need to connect as we are obviously related . I live in BC.

I have been collaborating with other relatives who descend from James and also who are related to Duncan of the Sword and I am hopeful we will find the answers– we already have good information and then there are the “what if’s” and the folk lore and those 10 years of missing records–

    Hello Andrea,

My Name is Pat, I live in Lake Country BC in the sunny Okanagan– We are related through James 1743, son of Alexander Campbell and Mary Cameron. Like you I have many questions, however I have been working with someone in Kent England who has helped “open some doors”.. I do not know for sure if we will ever find the written truth– so much folklore, and 10 years of missing records..letters from PEI, grandson of James, that are also a tad confused but on the right track– I would like to connect with you as perhaps we could compare notes??

Looking forward to hearing from you.
