Greetings. Am interested to find details of McNaughton family of Killin. Duncan McNaughton (ggf.)(stone mason), suspect married ?? McIntyre, prob about 1870-1880, 12 children, incl. Susan, Elizabeth, Alek, Angus (b1892, youngest, my grandfather). Angus left Killin approx 1912 to Edinburg Univ, then to Australia by 1915, served in AIF. Returned to Aus. 1921, married approx 1926. Returned 1952 for visit, and remaining family still in area at the time. Little or no subsequent contact, and no knowledge of remaining links.

Hope to visit for detailed study in next year or so. am building detailed storyboard, which may be online later this year (hopefully).

    Any help appreciated

David, I cannot help with your present query but I would be interested to know if you have the names of Duncan’s parents. I am seeking information of “my” McNaughton family which includes a Duncan born at Balnacraig Farm in Glenlyon and christened 9 May, 1814 in Parish of Fortingall. He was the son of John McNaughton and Janet Stewart. Duncan’s sister, Grace and her husband Donald McNaughton (my great-grandparents) came to Australia in 1889.

Hellow, I am David McVean of the US. MacNaughtan’s are married into my line and lived side by side back on the river Lochay. 10 miles northwest of Killin. Check out history of Botwarnie, Terrie, Batavaime eastern and western Tullich. Spelt many ways. McVean’s occupied several crofts in and around Killin and the river Lochay for 300+ years. Mc or MacNaughtan’s always were near bythe McVean’s even when they immegrated to AU. Lenark Canada and New York. Year in Canada 1815, Killin from 1600 on. I would recommend contacting Davie McNaughtan in Glasgow. I can’t say enough good things about Davie. He will be a vendor and have a tent at the 250 year celibration and Arbroath signing of the contract of Clan’s in Edinburgh this July. Davie has a ton of information on his Clan. Let me know if you can’t find his contact info. and I will forward to you. Davie does check this forum from time to time. Cheers. Almost Cuz Dave dwmcvean@q.com
