For those of you who are distant to Killin, I have put some pictures of the more readable gravestones in the old graveyard behind the CLOSED Killin Hotel on my website at : http://www.craigbuie.com/gallery.htm.

Thank you for putting these photos on the site. I’m sure the inscriptions will help some of us searching our family roots from the Killin area.

    Hi Vic,
My name is David McVean and interested in learning more about John McKay and Jamima McVean in cemetery #1.
My wife and I have done alot of research on McVean, Bean in the US and have planned a trip in June of 08.
I plan on staying in Killin as well as traveling to Batavaime at Loc Tay the first croft build about 1490. Last to occupy was Donald McVean married Ann Fraser. I would love to hear from any surviving Bean’s, McBean, MacVean, McVean. Please feel free to pass my information along to others that might be interested.
    Cordially,
David McVean dwmcvean@aol.com Duluth MN. USA

Thank you for posting the photo of John McKay and Jemima McVean’s gravestone, John is my 3 x great uncle.
Has anyone come across Duncan McKay and his wife Jean McMartin’s gravestone in the old graveyard.
    They are John McKay’s parents.
Are there any McAlpin headstones in the old graveyard

Thank you for posting photos of some of the old Killin memorial inscriptions behind the hotel. I visited this site 12th Sept 2012 on our way to Edinburgh & found it very overgrown. The Killin Hotel was open at this time. I located two of the headstones belonging to my ancestors & took photos which I can pass on to you – surname CHRISTIE (situated more or less in the centre of the yard). Unfortunately I did not have time to find the 3rd one. I would be interested if it is possible, to locate the a site map listing the position of the individual graves & would appreciate any help as I live in Auckland, New Zealand.

Donald’s family from Cloichran and Cambusurich , south side Loch Tay.
