I hope to travel to Scotland in 2017 to do what I can to help my mothers continuing search with her McGregor family genealogy. We’ve exhausted all avenues from Australia and it may be time time to get boots on the ground. The earliest records we have is the birth year of my 3rd great grandfather Duncan McGregor who along with three of his older brothers Donald, John and Alexander were born in Auchlyne between 1776 and 1786 when Duncan was born. Their father was also Duncan McGregor and their mother was Catherine/Katherine Clark/e. The younger Duncan McGregor married Henrietta Ferguson in Callander in 1821 moving to Duncraggan, south of Brig O Turk. One of their sons Peter McGregor b1832 is my 2nd great grandfather and he and his wife Mary McGibbon emigrated to Brisbane Australia in 1861. My hope is to glean information on Duncan McGregor the elder and Catherine Clarke/e. All we know is that they lived in Auchlyne from 1776 for a period of at least ten years but we have no information on their births, marriage or for what capacity they were employed for during this time. It is possible that we’ve gone back as far as we can but I’m hoping that there may be benefit from some local historical expertise as well as what I might gather when I travel there.
We would greatly appreciate any information or advice.

    Kind Regards
