My G.G. Grandfather Philip McRae(1841-1921) came to Killin as a policeman shortly before 1881 He stayed at the police station house. His son James(my great granfather(1866-1945)) was an auctioneer and also stayed in Killin. James stayed in a house called Tigh-n-Fhinn and I am wondering if this was the old police house. One of James’s daughters Helen, married Malcolm Macintyre(school headmaster) and they also lived at Tigh-n Fhinn. I would be gratefull for any info about this family’s time in Killin.

    Hi Dougie,
Can’t help you much with your postings…..The police house/station was up at the Bridge on the Falls of Dochart beside what is now the visitors centre. This house now called Tigh Muileann, a new police station opened in early sixtys…………Tigh-n-Fhinn is in the main street opposite the Bank of Scotland,, would have been split into 4 homes,, however it now is a upper and lower flat………….Re headmaster/school…….The school register from way back is still in the village and was available to see at a event last year,, may be some input from Malcolm Macintyre..Sadly very few folks around that now can go back to even the time WW2…
