Go-kart competition to return to Killin Show
The Killin Agricultural Show 2015 will see the welcome return of their best go-kart competition and fastest go-kart race to their schedule. In recent years the show has grown and seen the addition of other events such as the scarecrow competition, go-kart race and bucking bronco alongside the regulars.
Keep calm and join a choir!
The Killin Community Choir is looking for new members. They are especially in need of some more men! The choir meet at the Church of Scotland every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. No need to be able to read music and no auditions to join.
Killin Post Office to extend hours
The Killin Post Office branch, in MacGregor’s Market and Cafe, is to extend it’s opening hours in the Spring. The branch will soon be changing to a new style of local branch enabling the Post Office to extend the overall range of products and services available at the branch.
Killin Church Hall up for sale
The former Killin Church Hall in Killin has been put up for sale by it’s owners. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park have also approved plans for the demolition of the current Church Hall and the erection of a dwelling house on the ground.
World’s biggest rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ with Whisky Kiss
Whisky Kiss and About Scotland are teaming up to create the world’s biggest rendition of people singing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ to celebrate Hogmanay and Burns Night and they are asking for your help in this Guinness World Record attempt.
Killin Hogmanay will see a slightly adjusted evening compared to past Hogmanay events, with an aim to making the event sustainable. Lantern walk from Pavillion – 7.30pm, to lead to the Falls of Dochart. Music from Marit and Rona – 8.00pm, break at 9pm. The duo fell into playing together when they were studying in Newcastle.
50mph limit for Glen Ogle A85?
Scottish ministers plan to impose a 50mph speed limit on the stretch of road running along Glen Ogle between the Lix Toll Junction and Lochearnhead.
Volunteer drivers needed
Killin needs a team of dedicated volunteers to provide a patient transport service to and from hospital and clinic appointments. Volunteers will play an important role in ensuring patients in this rural area can attend appointments on time.
